VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO ENTER NIGERIA
For Tourist/Visitor Visa
- Your valid, signed U.S. passport, must have at least 6 months remaining validity beyond your intended stay in Nigeria. You must have at least one (1) blank visa page. Amendment pages do not count.
- One (1) Visa Application Form, fully completed and signed.
- One (1) Passport-type Photograph, must be 2" x 2" and taken recently.
- Copy of round-trip airline tickets, or a flight itinerary.
- For minors:
A copy of child's birth certificate is required, AND A signed, notarized letter of consent by both parents is required, AND Copies of both parents' passports (information page).
- Complete our Visa Order Form (print from browser).
For Business Visa
- Your valid, signed U.S. passport, must have at least 6 months remaining validity beyond your intended stay in Nigeria. You must have at least one (1) blank visa page. Amendment pages do not count.
- One (1) Visa Application Form, fully completed and signed.
- One (1) Passport-type Photograph, must be 2" x 2" and taken recently.
- Copy of round-trip tickets, or a flight itinerary.
- Copy of invitation letter from the host company/organization in Nigeria (fax acceptable).
- A business letter of responsibility (Sample) is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:
Embassy of Nigeria, Visa Section, Washington, D.C.
The letter must explain all of the following:
- The purpose of visit
- Business reference in Nigeria to be visited
- Company guarantee of financial responsibility for the applicant and their return transportation to the U.S.
- Complete our Visa Order Form (print from browser).
TWP (Temporary Work Permit)
- Your valid, signed U.S. passport, must have at least 6 months remaining validity beyond your intended stay in Nigeria. You must have at least one (1) blank visa page. Amendment pages do not count.
- One (1) Visa Application Form, fully completed and signed.
Please note: The embassy will charge $112.00 for application fee, an additional $100.00 for processing fee and $65.00 if the application is needed to be expedited and these fees will have be paid through us.
- One (1) Passport-type Photograph, must be 2" x 2" and taken recently.
- Copy of round-trip tickets, or a flight itinerary.
- An approval from Nigeria for Temporary Work Permit (must be original copy) from the Comptroller General Immigration (C.G.I)
- Copy of invitation letter from the host company/organization in Nigeria (fax acceptable).
- For religious visitors and missionary workers, applicants will require pre-approval from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Nigeria.
- A business letter of responsibility (Sample) is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:
Embassy of Nigeria, Visa Section, Washington, D.C.
The letter must explain all of the following:
- The purpose of visit
- Business reference in Nigeria to be visited

STR (Subject To Regularization)
- Your valid, signed U.S. passport, must have at least 6 months remaining validity beyond your intended stay in Nigeria. You must have at least one (1) blank visa page. Amendment pages do not count.
- Four (4) Visa Application Forms, fully completed and signed.
Please note: The embassy will charge $112.00 for application fee, an additional $235.00 for processing fee and $65.00 if the application is needed to be expedited and these fees will have be paid through us.
- Four (4) Passport-type Photographs, must be 2" x 2" and taken recently.
- Copy of round-trip tickets, or a flight itinerary.
- Four (4) copies of approved expatriate quota from the Ministry of Interior.
- Four (4) copies of credentials and certificates (English Certified translated copy where applicable).
- Letter of offer of employment.
- Letter of acceptance of employment by expatriate.
- Complete our Visa Order Form (print from browser).

Your application will be checked and hand carried to the Embassy and is usually processed in 7-10 business days. Rush services are available in 3-5 business days and same day/24 hour rush service for an additional consular fees.
