VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO ENTER
SRI LANKA

For Tourist Visa

Visa will be issued upon arrival for a stay up to 30 days. Extension can be arranged at Immigration Office in Colombo.  A valid and signed U. S. Passport (valid at least 6 months beyond the date of entry) is required.

For Business Visa

1. Your valid, signed U.S. passport, must have at least 6 months remaining validity beyond your intended stay in Sri Lanka. You must have at least one (1) blank visa page. Amendment pages do not count.
2. One (1) Visa Application Form, fully completed and signed.
3. Two (2) Passport-type Photograph, must be 2" x 2" and taken recently.
4. A copy of round-trip airline tickets or a flight itinerary..
5. Your sponsor in Sri Lanka must send a fax to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington D.C., stating the name of the applicant, confirming the business trip (fax must include company address and type of business). For a stay over 7 days, the letter must be sent via the Immigration Department in Colombo.
6. A business letter of responsibility (Sample) is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:
   
   Embassy of Sri Lanka, Visa Section, Washington, D.C.
   
   The letter must explain all of the following:
• The purpose of visit
• Business reference in Sri Lanka to be visited
• Company guarantee of financial responsibility for the applicant and their return transportation to the U.S.
7. Complete our Visa Order Form (print from browser).

Official/Diplomatic Travel

1. Your Official/Diplomatic passport, must be signed and have at least 6 months remaining validity.
2. One (1) Visa Application Form, fully completed and signed.
3. One (1) recent Passport-type Photograph.
4. U.S. Department of State visa cover letter.
5. Completed Visa Order Form (print from browser).
